What happens when a bride from the United States, a groom from Chile, and over 80 guests from around the world come together in the heart of Alajuela, Costa Rica? You get one of the most joyful, emotional, and unforgettable destination weddings we have ever had the privilege of photographing.
An Engagement Session in the Mountains of Heredia
Before the big day, we had the honor of capturing their engagement session in the misty mountains of Heredia. Surrounded by lush cloud forest, soft golden light, and the quiet magic of the Costa Rican highlands, it was the perfect way to begin this love story. Heredia is one of the most beautiful and underrated locations in Costa Rica for engagement portraits — and this couple made the most of every moment.
The Wedding: Alajuela, Costa Rica
For their wedding, this couple chose Alajuela — a warm, vibrant part of Costa Rica surrounded by tropical greenery, volcanic landscapes, and the kind of authentic charm that makes destination weddings here so special. With over 80 guests traveling from the United States, Chile, and beyond, the energy from the very first moment was extraordinary.
This was not just a wedding. It was a reunion of two families, two cultures, and a lifetime of connections all gathered in one place to celebrate love.
Meaningful Details That Told Their Story
One of our favorite moments of the day was when the bride received heirloom pearls gifted by her mother-in-law — a gesture so full of warmth and welcome that it brought tears to everyone present. These are the moments that go beyond words, and exactly the kind of details we live to capture as documentary photographers.
The Ceremony
The ceremony was intimate, emotional, and beautifully set against the lush Costa Rican countryside. Vows were exchanged with full hearts, surrounded by the people who had traveled from across continents to witness this moment. There were tears, there was laughter, and there was a palpable feeling that something truly meaningful was taking place.
The Celebration
And then — the party began. With 80+ guests, two cultures, and plenty of Piscola (the beloved Chilean drink of the evening!), the dance floor never had a quiet moment. This reception was pure energy — nonstop dancing, heartfelt toasts, and the kind of laughter that echoes long after the night is over.
Weddings like this remind us why we love what we do. When two cultures come together with joy and purpose, the result is something that cannot be staged or planned — it simply happens, and our job is to be there to capture every second of it.
